A symbol of power, professionalism and creativity, the tie remains the quintessential accessory in a man’s wardrobe. Despite the relaxation of dress codes, nothing can replace the air of authority and polished finish that a fine tie imparts. MIRTO’s men’s ties are the result of decades of shirt-making tradition, crafted from Italy’s most exclusive silks and designed for the gentleman who values distinction in every detail.

The quality of a tie can be felt to the touch. The vast majority of the MIRTO collection is made from 100% natural silk, a fine fabric that offers a distinctive sheen (without looking artificial), superior colour intensity and an impeccable drape. But what truly defines quality is what you cannot see: the interlining (the ‘soul’ of the tie).

Our ties feature a lining of high-quality wool or wool blends, which gives them body and volume. This is crucial for two reasons: it allows you to tie knots with a good ‘dimple’ (that elegant crease beneath the knot) and ensures that the tie regains its original shape and loses any creases after having been tied all day.

Plain ties and micro-patterns
These are the cornerstones of any wardrobe. A navy blue, burgundy, bottle green or grey tie is a must-have for high-level meetings or formal events. To add visual interest without compromising on understated elegance, we focus on textures: faux-plain fabrics, embossed jacquard weaves or micro-dots that add depth to the colour and enrich the look when paired with white or sky-blue shirts.

Prints and patterns
To express your personality, nothing beats our exclusive prints. From classic Paisley (cashmere) motifs, polka dots or regimental stripes in a university style, to modern and bold geometric designs. They are ideal for daytime weddings, social events or to add a touch of dynamism to a grey or navy blue suit. The sharpness of the print on our silk ensures that every detail of the design is a small work of art.

Knitted ties
For the man who enjoys the smart-casual style, knitted or silk-knit ties are the winning choice. With their straight-cut tips (square finish) and crisp texture, they are perfect for wearing with unstructured jackets, cotton blazers and even sports jackets, toning down the formality whilst maintaining elegance.

Fashion comes and goes, but style endures. At MIRTO, we favour a contemporary, balanced lapel width, generally between 7.5 and 8 cm. This width is the most versatile, as it complements both wide and narrow suit lapels.

• Four-in-Hand knot: This is the most common knot; it is slightly asymmetrical and narrow. It works brilliantly with button-down or closed-collar shirt collars.
• Windsor or Half Windsor knot: More voluminous, symmetrical and triangular in shape. It requires a tie with good interlining and is ideal for Italian (open) shirt collars and very formal occasions.

A silk tie is delicate and must be treated with care to ensure it lasts a lifetime:

1. Never wash it with water: Water can distort the interlining and stain the silk. Always opt for dry cleaning at specialist dry cleaners.
2. Undo the knot: When you get home, undo the knot completely (don’t leave it ‘loose’ for the next day) and hang up the tie or roll it up gently. This allows the silk fibres to relax and the creases to disappear naturally.
3. Watch out for stains: If you get a stain on your tie during a meal, avoid rubbing it with wet napkins, as this could damage the colour.
